Well, you don't have to use the any-any patch. You can simply use the
km_vmware package that came with SuSE 9.0. However, as I pointed out in my
post to a similar thread a couple of weeks ago, you may not want to use
the vmnet.o module that gets compiled from the km_vmware source. On the
other hand you may have to use the vmmon.o module that originates from it
rather than the one you get from the vmware distribution. It is quite
confusing, especially if you don't regularly compile your own kernel and
just expect it to work as shipped.
