I have read all the messages related to problems getting VMWorkstation 4
running with the latest SuSE kernel.
I tried the method related to using the vmware-any-any-update.tar.gz file
When invoking the runme.pl script, it failed to compile the vmmon.o module
with the error (among others)
cannot exec cc1plus.
Installing km_vmware source and running
make -f Makefile.module from the /usr/src/kernel-modules/vmware directory
also yields the cannot exec cc1plus error.
switching to usr/src/kernel-modules/vmware/vmmon-only and running make yyields
the same error. running make from usr/src/kernel-modules/vmware/vmnet-only
yields no errors.
This si a clean install of SuSE 9.0 pro. I have VmWorkstation 4.05 running
under 2.4.21-166 on my old computer. This si a new computer, so I can always
start over. Note that both computers use an AMD chip.
Any ideas would be helpful. I am wondering if someone emails me vmmon.o and
vmnet.o modules that work with their athlon 2.4.21-192 kernel whether I could
use those?
