Include the susehelp configuration by adding "/etc/httpd/susehelp.conf" to APACHE_CONF_INCLUDE_FILES in /etc/sysconfig/apache2, restart apache, and let me know if that helps.
Don't forget to edit /etc/sysconfig/susehelp.

Worked like a charm as far as getting the help system running. [...]
Thanks for the feedback.
[...] While I was installing Apache2 I read a comment saying:
"prefork" MPM (Multi-Processing Module) This MPM is basically the one that Apache 1.3.x used. It warrants the maximum stability because each server runs in its own process. If a process dies it will not affect other servers.
Which I never knew. I guess 1.3 and 2 aren't that different. I never tried.
In some respects they are very different, but not visibly to the user. Most changes are confined to the internals that you'd not notice.
I just knew everything worked with Apache 1.3 and it didn't with 2 so I reverted. But I still don't have a dancing penguin! :-( I'l also observe
Yoy mean the old dancing penguin that was on the default index.html very long ago? I believe we have ditched it due to unclear copyright long ago, but if it's still there it is in the apache-example-pages package (the one of apache1).
that I had to yank out all the 1.3 related modules to prevent rpm conflicts.
A few modules do conflict (mod_perl, mod_python). Most don't.
I don't know what, if anything I really lost. This server isn't important, but I have one that matterrs a bit more. I think I'll have to aim before I shoot with that one.
Don't worry. If you need help, it counts as a bug which needs to be resolved. Let me know. Peter
