mail attachment from commandline

Hi everybody, How can I mail an attachment with either the sendmail (from postfix) or mail (from mailx) command? The relevant man pages don't mention attachments, but I'm sure there's some fancy piping or something that would allow this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
