I'm not sure what it's used for, but you may recall that I have some concerns about such settings not been correctly adjusted for American systems. In the /etc/X11/Xresources there is a line "Ghostview.pageMedia: A4" which is almost certainly not correct. Does anybody know what that actually impacts? There is slight a possibility that it /is/ correct if it indicates the default from which other settings must deviate.
