Hello all. I am trying to upgrade my Suse 9.0 install to 2.6 optimized for the Athlon and with preemption. I installed the kernel modules and all the necessary packages for Kernel 2.6.3 that I found in the kraxel folder. The default kernel boots just fine and I can load all modules. When I recompile the kernel to include preemption and to be optimized for my Athlon XP, it compiles fine. I execute the command cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.3-0-default move the newly compiled kernel and I do make module_install. When I boot the kernel every module except Reiserfs gives me the following: b44: version magic '2.6.3-0-default preempt K7 REGPARM gcc-3.3' should be '2.6.3-0-default 586 REGPARM gcc-3.3' That message was specific to b44 but I get it from all modules. Sometimes even Reiserfs will give me that error and also reports that my modules have an invalid module format. This is all remedied when I simply reinstall the default 2.6.3 kernel rpms from kraxel's folder. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks -Gregory Olds
