I have a SMC2602W which is supported by the hostap_plx module (lsmod extract below). hostap_crypt_wep 3148 1 (autoclean) hostap_plx 38304 1 hostap 80676 0 [hostap_plx] hostap_crypt 1328 0 [hostap_crypt_wep hostap] This module is capable of running as an access point, but in /etc/sysconfig/network/scripts/ifup-wireless it says Master|Repeater|Secondary) logerrer "Mode $WIRELESS_MODE is not supported yet for wlanng devices" exit $R_ERROR However, I moved the "Master" option so it runs the "Ad-hoc" code, and now I'm running my machine as the access point for another two SuSE 9.0 machines. :-) I did this a couple of months ago, and I can't remember if I had to upgrade any of the wireless tools. But it can be done. Peter.
