Yes.  I've had Java installed (from that site) for weeks.

Once upon a time, yes.  This time, no, because I didn't want to start a
pointless download.  I just validated that I could get well past the
point where you said you were hung up.  I just now went back there and
got the download started, then canceled.  No problems.
