HI all. I just installed SuSE 9.0 via ftp. I have installed apache and php and now I would like to get mysql running. I installed mysql and mysql client via YAST but I can't seem to start it. I type mysql start at the command line and get the following error. Any ideas? Regards from Denmark. Dan
*> mysql start* ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
try "rcmysql start"
*Got another error:
rcmysql start*
Starting service MySQL ..failed
Other ideas?
Cheers from Sweden
Is mysql installed? try rpm -qa | grep mysql mine shows mysql-shared-4.0.15-9 mysql-4.0.15-9 mysql-client-4.0.15-9 mysqlcc-0.9.2-66 qt3-mysql-3.2.1-37 if it shows you that mysql is installed then as root do /etc/init.d/mysql start I think there is a problem in SuSE 9.0 as mysql does not seem to start automatically on a reboot.
