When I reboot, I often get an error somewhere in the /etc/mtab corruption. It scares me to death because the system boots up with file systems in read-only mode. The corruption tends to clear up itself, when I reboot it. It seems somewhat random. I am very concerned with this error. Please help. 2. I cannot understand the ALSA parameter name change in /etc/modprobe.conf. My card is supposed to use either intel8x0 or i810audio. I am not sure which one. The portion of /etc/modprobe is cut and pasted below.
