Hi,
I have just purchased a Netgear DG834GUK ADSL router. But have had no luck setting it up with Suse 9.0. When I set it up under Windows XP, I had to leave the IP address as DHCP and specify the DNS servers for my ISP, when I tried a static IP windows refused to cumminicate with the netgear, with DHCP it works fine.
I tried the same thing with Suse 9, leaving the IP address as DHCP and specifying DNS servers for my ISP and setting the gateway to 192.168.0.1 which is the Netgears IP address.
On boot up I do get a IP address and subnet mask allocated according to the bootup text, and I can access the Netgear's setup screen by using 192.168.0.1 in konquerors address bar so I assume the two are communicating. The netgear says it is connected to my ISP but I cannot browse the net etc.
Could some kind person give me some pointers as what I may be missing
Richard, Sounds like you also need to set the default route: # ip route add default via 192.168.0.1 Also: You will be more likely to get (friendly) responses to your questions if you avoid hijacking existing email thread---start a new one. You hijacked the thread "Re: [SLE] The GIMP" Jim
