Questions, please?
1. Do I understand correctly that the mydoom virus cannot harm a Linux box (SuSE 9 Pro in my case)?
That is correct, it is a windows program and as such won't execute without coercion on a linux machine
2. Is it possible that the Mozilla 6 E-mail app could forward mydoom intact or are the occasional E-mail notes I get from other servers false positives for the presence of mydoom on something I have supposedly sent?
Most likely, they are viruses sent by (windows using) people who have your address in their address books. When mydoom propagates, it takes an address from the address book and forges the from-address so it looks like it came from someone else, in this case you.
