I wasn't so lucky with synaptic. I'm not sure if just running apt instead would have been more fruitful. Some files downloaded some didn't. When I make the change on my work system, I'm just going to download all one-by-one and install that way.

Thank you Tom, When I went to upgrade KDE and saw all those files I thought I was doing something wrong. I d/l the basic ... then was told I needed ... XYZ ... Got XYZ ... began to leand was told I needed PQR ... Got PQR ... You get the idea ... I guess I was doing it right after all...
