Well, I decided to remove the printer and reinstall. Everything went
swimmingly, and, yes, the HP840C is supported and on the list. I'm not
going to say that the print quality is awful, it just isn't that great
compared to printing directly from HP's own software via Windoz. And
what's worse, at the medium resolution setting (300x300dpi) it prints
very slooooowly.
