I recently installed suse 9 on a dell latitude laptop. I am using a D-link DFE690 txd pcmcia ethernet card, and Yast recognized and configures card as eth-pcmcia. However, I am still unable to conncet to the internet. Yast error messages stated: "DHCP Client is already running on eth0." any ideas how to correct this? Thanks!
Tail -f /var/log/messages as you insert the card. Watch the messages to see if it gives a clue.
In the past suse used external pcmcia drivers for install and then switched to kernel drivers on first post-install boot. I have had several machines where this failed, and going to /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia and changeing back to external solved the problem. This was with a prior release so I can't say if this will help.
Well, var/log/messages show that the kernel is identifying my D-link pcmcia card with eth0---however in etc/sysconfig/network the ifcfg file is set up as ifcfg-eth-pcmcia. There is no ifcfg-eth0 file. Any ideas?---Chip
