I followed suggestions from the people on this list and had partial success. The modem actually dialed out --a first-- but once connected on one channel the recv & x-mit lites both flashed, in turn, just about 1 cps until I finally hung the modem up. The logs yielded the following which, I fear, may not be much help: Jan 24 23:07:37 HP-YOGI pppd[2615]: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded. I switched modems and it worked. Now, the modem I switched to is starting to give problems so would like to get the 3Com to work completely, if possible. Again, any help greatly appreciated! ...CH
