| I use ftp.oregonstate.edu quite often and it's very reliable, fast
and upto date...
|
|
That is not my experience. I think Oregon state is closest physically
to me (i'm in Keno, so possibly one of the CA sites is closer) running
charter (256k).
i've been trying for the last several days to do an ftp install on this
box. it hangs every time at "elaluating packages". when I goto a
prompt and check ifconfig, 56 megs have been transfered.
and thats after getting it started, then being gone for about 6 hours.
I tried to use apt to upgrade like i did my laptop, but somewhere i
fubared my settings on this box enough that i cannot go that route
without fixing my mistakes or reinstalling. so i'm saving my pennies to
buy the CD's.
