Ofcourse use "us" rather then trq.map.gz

Greets;
Just installed SuSE 9 (ftp version) twice now on the same machine simply to test and confirm, and it consistantly loads the german keyboard despite english_us being selected and set in all known locations. Was wondering the following:
1. Anyone else experience this?
2. Where and how do I set an english_us mappings as everything I know seems to be set correctly?
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
