You should try the GUI sometimes. Even a monkey can set the default runlevel in the graphical YaST -> Runlevel Editor.
Or edit /etc/inittab (in SuSE-8.* at least). It goes faster. id:3:initdefault: Or id:5 if you still prefer the graphical login widget. Avoid id:0 or id:6 of course. AB
