Hi Batt, Open a command-line and try "ip addr show" to show all configured network cards. Do you use a firewall? Is the DHCP-server reachable? What does "grep -i dhcp /var/log/messages" and "dmesg" say? Did you load the module for the network-card? "lsmod" shows the list of the loaded modules. Is the network-adapter working? Maybe it's an issue with the hardware (is it working under windows xp?). cheers, Stefan
From: Batt Family [mailto:battfam@knology.net] Hi,
I'm new to Linux and this is my first post. I use 8.2 Pro, and I'm unable to connect to the internet. I get an "error occurred while loading blah" and "unknown host blah" when I use the browser.
Under Network Card configuration it reads 'Available are other (not detected)' but below that it reads 'Already configured devices: Ethernet controller configured as eth0 with DHCP.'
I ran mii-diag and received "using default interface 'eth0' SIOCGMIIPHY on eth0 failed: no such device. I ran mii-tool and received "no mii interfaces found." I connect to the internet using a cable modem and my mobo has an onboard network interface controller. I have a dual boot system with SuSE Linux 8.2 Pro and Windows XP Pro. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
