I am running SuSE8.1 pro, and I want to reduce the speed of my ethernet card to 10M half duplex. (Currently 100MB full duplex) How do I do this? I have tried YAST2, it allows me to set the IP address etc, but there is nothing about the speed? It could do it in WindowsXP, but how do I do it under SuE Linux? I was asked by my ADSL modem/router supplier to do this and a few other things in order to prevent problems with my router, which hangs sometimes.
I don't know what type of networkcard you use, but perhaps the following page is of interest to you: http://www.linuxhq.com/kernel/v2.1/111/Documentation/tlan.txt It mentions a couple of switches/options that can be used, which may work with your network card as well. I think the Hardware Details setting within the network card setup may allow you to add such options. Perhaps a google for the right options in combination with your network card are in order, or the ones mentioned on the page above might do the trick. Regards, Pieter Hulshoff
