Vmware on my SuSE 9.0 machine with windows 2000 as guest works all right once I get it started, but it takes something like ten minutes to start. It just sits there, contributing little or nothing to load, with the scrren blank and unresponsive.
How much physical ram do you have and how much is allocated to VMware?
I have a gig with 256k allocated to W2K. I looked at vmware.log and see where it seems to be delayed for 2 1/2 minutes, several times, "initializing the USB backend" whatever that means. Here is an example: notice the time jump.
