All the network ports are set to force 100Mb/s Full Duplex on the switch and servers.
If I transfer files between the machines using a default install of ProFTPD I get about 10 to 20 MB/s transfer speed.
Let's see, 100 Mbps / 8 bits per Byte = 12.5 MBps maximum possible transfer rate. So you clearly aren't measuring the actual network transfer rate if you're seeing figures as high as 20 MBps. So the first step is to use some test that does indicate the actual rate.
However some are about 200KB/s and I can't think why. I've tried different NIC's and OS'es but nothing will speed them up.
You don't say what you've done to be sure that the connections are really running at 100 Mbps. What does mii-tool say? Do the lights on the connections actually say they're running at 100 Mbps? Is the switch managed - what does it say? Cheers, Dave
