Same thing here. The service scripts are in /etc/init.d/ . Simply apply /etc/init.d/<service> start or stop or restart or status or whatever you want to do with it.
What is wrong with rc<service> start|stop|status|restart etc;
Nothing wrong with it. I am just used to the other way of doing business with my box's daemons. Admittedly, rc<service> start is quicker typing, but then, when I have to start or stop things I usually put root into /etc/init.d and ./<service> start is just as quick. Cheers, Alex.
