Hello,
Does anyone know how to make Mozilla (a version installed from the Mozilla site) use the same fonts as KDE applications? The fonts in Konqueror look very good. Is there a way to make Mozilla use the same fonts as Konqueror?
I may well be wrong but I have a feeling that the Mozilla site builds aren't compiled with "enable Xft" which is likely the source of the problem. I've found two ways round it. The first is to download a Mozilla 1.5 rpm from the projects directory of the SuSE ftp tree. This is what I've done and the fonts are fine (i.e., same as elsewhere in KDE). The second way is a lot more complicated and is only worth it if you don't want to use anti-aliasing for certain font sizes generally. This involves compiling or recompiling freetype2 with the bytecode interpreter enabled; downloading a GTK version of Mozilla rather than the "ordinary" version; and then editing the unix.js script as you mention. TT fonts that aren't anti-aliased will look a lot better. However, this method requires some care and the setting up of font substitutions for best results, and a mistake over reinstalling freetype2 could total your X system. The third way would be compiling Mozilla with Xft enabled but life's too short. Roll on the day when this whole business becomes standardized and is no longer an issue. Just my 2 cents. :) Fish
