Presumably you have to do "/etc/init.d/network start" to get it up. YaST --> System --> Runlevel Editor and check that network is enabled. Also check the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0, YaST should have set it up, here is mine ----- BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='192.168.10.255' IPADDR='192.168.10.1' MTU='' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.10.0' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='onboot' UNIQUE='lgGW.IQxIdIhhuH7' Regards Sid. jpirtle wrote:
Hello List;
I'm a very raw newbie that needs help. I'm trying to run SuSE 8.2 and my network card won't stick. I've been fighting this for three months with no resolution.
I've got a D-Link DFE-530TX+ card. The drivers appear to be correct (8139too) and in the correct spot in the tree. I can configure the device with Yast2 and it works like a champ. But all settings are lost when I log out either as root or as user. When I come back in I have no network settings. The card is recognized, but not configured properly. And nothing works, until I go through another configuration routine.
My Linux box is connected to one of the ports on my Linksys router and it is connected to my cable modem and that is connected to Time Warner's Road Runner cable service. It's all DHCP. There's also a Win box on the same network (I'm using it now) and everything works great here.
I think I might need a new network card, but which one? And what would be the proper configuration settings?
Please help. It's making me crazy.
