Is the network card working? As root type ifconfig . There should be a
eth0 there. If not, then you may need to dig a little deeper as to why
it is not there. But if you do see eth0, then I would try and ping the
ip address that is on the adapter. Let us know what you find out.
This should get you a good starting point.
