Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 kernel: hde: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
This indicates a hardware error and therefore the device special file would not be created.
Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 kernel: hde: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError } Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 kernel: hde: 31488 sectors (16 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=246/4/32 Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 kernel: hde: hde1 Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 kernel: ide_cs: hde: Vcc = 3.3, Vpp = 0.0 Nov 17 13:06:31 lap1900 cardmgr[1026]: executing: './ide start hde'
I'm not sure why it reported the error, but it mounted and read with no
apparent errors. I was actually reporting an answer to the original
question from a PCMCIA point of view.
