For those with PCMCIA devices:
I have a PCMCIA CF adaptor. On my laptop, when I plug this in, it is
/dev/hde1. hwinfo --pcmcia shows the device characteristics, but not the
device special file. /var/log/messages indicates the device as
/dev/hde1:
