Just use sux. Only if sux doesn't work use "xhost +localhost" but don't use "xhost +" (especially in a networked environment).
It depends on your "networked environment" and the integrity of your co-workers. If your co-workers are a bunch of crackers/hackers then yes -never- use xhost +. Were I work I always use xhost + -without- fear that my fellow co-workers are just sitting there trying to hack into my machine. It is one thing to be safe, it is quite another to paranoid.
I understand your point but I don't agree anyway. Trojan horses don't care whether you trust your co-workers or not. They just act. -- A.M.
