Sorry for asking this again, but I vaguely remember someone else having the same problem. I cannot print from the gimp, while I can print from everything else (HP 960c Deskjet using one of the many generic drivers). An error page prints a cut-off incomplete message about a "Print plug-in V4.3.3 - 14 Jul 2002 for GIMP/Gimp-Print ..."
Gimp relies on its own printer driver program called gimp-print. It is very high quality and many other printer drivers use its code.
First, have you selected HP 900 series as the printer driver in gimp's printer dialog setup? You may also want to check the print resolution makes sense.
V4.3.3 probably refers to the gimp-print drivers version. The title bar of the gimp print dialog will tell you the version it is using. I don't know if they are the same. the 4.3.* series are 'experimental', while the 4.2.* series are stable. In practice the 4.3.* series have generally been very stable.
If nothing else works, you can try building and installing a more recent version of gimp-print. I've done it more than 25 times and can give you detailed instructions.
I did post some time ago and I've never been able to print from my gimp 1.3.19. There is simply no print menu item or submenu anywhere; even in context-sensitive areas. I tried building gimp-print but I got bogged-down in a marsh of dependencies. I resort to using OpenOffice to print the gimp-modifed images. Maybe SuSE 9.0 has this solved. Maybe I should not have upgraded the original gimp from 8.2. I'd love some detailed instructions that would help me wade through this again. Also, once gimp-print is compiled, how does one tell gimp that gimp-print exists?
