First, as one of the members pointed out, I appoligize if it seemed like i was trying to 'steal' a thread. I was just being lazy, and it wont happen again.. Second: thanks to the reply Werner.. But the problem is, it is a pci card and not a pcmcia one.. Although it does try and start it (along with eth0) before it checks the 1394/pci etc.. Not sure how to change it though as to linux I am a newcomer.. Now onto a rehash of the problem... I have searched all the sites, howtos and anything I could find but still no answer to this problem I am having. As well as posting posting to a.o..l.suse, and getting no help. I have a Gateway 600xl laptop w/ a lucent IEEE Ruby mini-pci card installed. The problem is I can't seem to get it to install on bootup. I have used the orinoco_cs, the orinoco_pci and neither solves the problem. As I boot, the screen says that eth0 passed, wlan-pcmcia 'hotplugging', but wlan0 'failed'. I go into yast->network devices->network cards. I have the pro/100 network card setup as eth0. If I setup the wireless card as an other (it does show up though, more on this later) and tell setup to select the lucent from the 'select from list' for the driver and add _pci to the end of the driver. It then recompiles and runs fine. But when I reboot I have to start all over again. If I use the lucent wavelan/ieee setup, which shows up in the config box, I get nothing. it doesn't work at all. Any help would be appreciated..
