If the package would have be broken I would expect Synaptic to inform me that k_deflt would be replaced or??? YOU just want to get rid of the kernel and replace it with the standard kernel. Wow!! What should I do?
I think Richard Bos (radoeka@xs4all.nl) said it was an rpm3 vs. rpm4 problem. He sent me 2 files for fakelibs to make it look like you have rpm4 installed. Check to make sure you have rpm3 before applying them: rpm --version as root. Maybe he will e-mail them to you; I don't feel comfortable attaching here since he sent them private e-mail.
