boot crash on 8.1

Hello;
While my 8.1 installation is working well, it is having boot problems
about half the time. It gets to the neighborhood of
Mount SMB File System
Starting SSH daemon
Inporting Net File System (NFS)
and then hangs, leaving the keyboard LEDs flashing. The hang does not
always occur exactly in the same place, but always somewhere within
these boot steps.
The only solution is a hard reboot so fsck follows that. And
/var/log/boot messages are started over so I cannot see exactly what
happened.
So can anyone say how I might fix this?
Since I do not use either SMB File System or NFS, I might just be able
to remove it from the boot script but I do not know which one to edit.
Thanks in advance.
