Apache2 startup question

What's the simple, down and dirty, idiot-proof, way to get Apache2 up
and running?
I have it started and there are files in my /srv/www/htdocs folder. When
I pull up the site, it just sits there and nothing happens. If I turn
off Apache2, then I get a quick error saying that nothing's there.
I had this working on 8.2 with Apache1. I also followed the quick start
guide for Apache2.
Any thoughts?
