Hi all,
I use AsusA7N266 mobo which has integrated soundcard [nvidia I believe -
supporting Ac97 codec on board] for which my SuSE chooses intel driver -
which should be fine - as Intel made the AC97 codec in the first place.
Problem is this - if I play DVD or pre-recorded .divx rips, the sound is
fine, but if I try to play from VCD in any form [directly, or after
copying the mpeg/DAT files on to the HDD], I get very low quality on
sound. This is tried using mplayer and mencoder. The output has really
poor sound quality.
What could be the problem. Same media plays fantastic in Windows [with the
motherboard's native drivers of course]. The sound quality is pathetic
otherwise.. :-(( MPlayer is compiled at home.
Please help
