afaik, juk uses arts.
Juk can use arts or Gstreams.
You may need to tinker its buffering. However, on my laptop, no matter how much the buffer, applications that uses arts(juk, noatun) is very sensitive to system load.
Set /opt/kde3/bin/artswrapper to setuid root to get realtime priority. I set mine to user root, group audio, mode 4750 for security. If you do this don't forget to put the users that you allow access to in group audio. Charles -- "Nature abhors a Vacuum" -- Brian Behlendorf on OSS (Open Sources, 1999 O'Reilly and Associates)
