I was trying to set it on because the system freezes when accessing HD. Any operation to set the DMA fails: #hdparm -d1 /dev/hdc I get: HDIO_SET_DMA failed: operation not permited. DMA MODE=0 (off) I don't know if it is a hardware incompatibility, but with the version 8.1 it did not fail ?? Thank's very much. -----Original Message----- From: zheng-jun [mailto:jun_zheng@call-center.com.cn] Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 1:47 AM To: 'Celestino Gomez'; suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] ??: [SLE] DMA Set problem you can use hdparm to disable dma mode so as #hdparm -d 0 /dev/sda -----原始邮件----- 发件人: Celestino Gomez [mailto:cgomez@gmv.es] 发送时间: 2003年10月28日 19:54 收件人: suse-linux-e@suse.com 主题: [SLE] DMA Set problem Hello, I don't know if the question have been already posted. I've SuSE 8.2 prof. installed in a PIV (Dell inspiron 5150) with a TOSHIBA MK4019GAX and when trying to set the DMA access I get: HDIO_SET_DMA failed: operation not permited. Which makes the system stop when accessing the HD. With the 'old' 8.1 version I do not have this problem. Can anybody help ? Thanks very much in advance.
