Hi, The following is a workaround to a bug in the OpenPBS /etc/init.d scripts in SuSE 8.2. The bug was reported via the SuSE feedback. If OpenPBS is installed: # rpm -qa|grep OpenPBS OpenPBS-2.3.16-323 OpenPBS-clients-2.3.16-323 OpenPBS-devel-2.3.16-323 OpenPBS-mom-2.3.16-323 OpenPBS-scheduler-2.3.16-323 OpenPBS-server-2.3.16-323 then it cannot be enabled neither via YaST2 or chkconfig: # chkconfig pbs_server on insserv: Service pbsserv has to be enabled for service pbsserv insserv: Service inetd has to be enabled for service pbsserv insserv: exiting now! /sbin/insserv failed, exit code 1 A workaround is to remove the service $netdaemons from the Required-Start field of pbs_mom, pbs_sched, and pbs_server (in /etc/init.d) and the service pbsserv from the Required-Start field of pbs_server. The corrected lines are: /etc/init.d/pbs_mom: # Required-Start: $network pbsserv $remote_fs /etc/init.d/pbs_sched: # Required-Start: $network pbsserv $remote_fs /etc/init.d/pbs_server: # Required-Start: $network $remote_fs $netdaemons can be removed since OpenPBS does not use (IMHO) neither portmap nor inetd (see /etc/insserv.conf). -- A.M.
