Before I update my 8.2 box to 9.0 I want to put my Home directory to a separate partition. Is it possible to create this partition by using Yast?
Yes.
When I start the partition part it says don't use it on a drive what is in use.
Yes, but you can ignore it... if you go with much care. Don't modify any partition that could be mounted. It's probably better (safer) if you drop to runlevel 1. Make a backup copy of /etc/fstab: I found that yast sometimes erases it and leaves only what "he" thinks is correct. Make sure your rescue CD works, and have it handy, just in case. After creating the partition, you will probably need to reboot. There is a howto about upgrading hard disks (your case) manually. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
