There have been a couple of other folks that felt like you and actually
went off to start their own mail lists. One of those was Tim Butler.
While usually starting many OT mails here, his list is usually quiet
and covers many of the things you have mentioned interest you. Tim and
I often clash, because of his dislike of SuSE, but the list may provide
you what you want.
