Folks,
I had been using <fetchmail> to collect and distribute my mail to 2 users and various mail folders using
cron jobs in SuSE 8.0. Upgraded to SuSE 8.1. <fetchmail> stopped working.
Symptoms SuSE 8.1
# fetchmail -f /etc/fetchmailrc
fetchmail: Repoll immediately on stanassc@mail.eclipse.net
fetchmail: 112 messages for stanassc at mail.eclipse.net (346970 octets).
fetchmail: reading message stanassc@mail.eclipse.net:1 of 112 (6218 octets) ......fetchmail: SMTP error: 451 4.7.1 Please try again later
fetchmail: not flushed
etc
Not the above collection, but typical from /var/log/mail
Sep 22 15:36:48 stanassc sendmail[30902]: h8MJa6wr030902: from=, size=4107, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<16238.13507.716125.406873@cerise.nosuchdomain.co.uk>, bodytype=7BIT, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost [127.0.0.1]
Sep 22 15:36:49 stanassc poll.tcpip: Done mail and news send/fetch
Sep 22 15:36:50 stanassc sendmail[30902]: h8MJa6wr030902: Milter: data, reject=451 4.7.1 Please try again later
Doing a trace on "fetchmail", I find the program is looking for /root/.fetchids, but can't find it because
I don't have such a file. I find several elusive references to this file, but nothing as to whether it is essential,
what its function might be nor what its format might be.
What else might it be?
I can collect the mail using mozilla and formail -s promail < Inbox manually. Very inconvenient.
Many thanks for what ever help you can give me.
