Hey SuSE folks;
Again I wish to let you know that there is a problem with Yast2 mounting CDs correctly. During a "Install and Remove Software" Yast asks for a CD #? and then complains that it is not the correct CD. Problem is that the CD has not been mounted. If I manually mount it Yast is happen and will do as I requested. This happens for sure as a console and may also happen in X.
I do have all updates/patches as recent as today.
_______________________________________________________________________________ Tracked out more info on this problem This system is setup very common like /dev/hd[a-d] with hdc and hdd running as ide-scsi -> /dev/sr0 and /dev/sr1 /dev/sr0 is linked to /dev/cdrom and /dev/sr1 is linked to /media/cdrecorder. Both unit were installed at the original load time. The CDrom and CD-RW are on the same cable and are IDE.. Xcdroast copy of CD in sr0 to CD in sr1 works great. Xmcd works and /etc/fstab shows: /dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0 /boot/grub shows: title linux-2.4.20-4GB kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz-2.4.20-4GB root=/dev/hda2 vga=0x31a pci=biosirq idebus=66 hdd=ide-scsi hddlun=0 splash=native showopts. (Question: I don't see where the hdc is changed to ide-scsi. However, it is working) "l" shows /dev/cdrom -> /dev/sr0 and /dev/cdrecorder -> /dev/sr1 Possibly there should be a device selection applet on yast.. If I try to mount /dev/hdc to /media/cdrom (when it is not currently mounted). # mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrom /dev/hdc: Input/output error mount: you must specify the filesystem type and # mount /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only -- 73 de Donn Washburn __ " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB / / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 307 Savoy St. / /__ / / / \/ / / /_/ / \ \/ / Sugar Land, TX 77478 /_____/ /_/ /_/\__/ /_____/ /_/\_\ LL# 1.281.242.3256 a MSDOS Virus "Free Zone" OS Email: n5xwb@hal-pc.org Info: http://www.knoppix.net
