Hi,
I am running open ssh (version 3.0.2) on a suse 8.0 system. It is running as a stand-alone daemon, and is not started from inetd. This works fine and I can connect to it using RSA authentication from windows XP (using PuTTY). When I scan the suse box using nmap or CFI LANGuard, both detect port 22 to be in listening mode as you would expect. Similarly, if I telnet into port 22 I get the standard ssh banner reflected back, so I'm sure that this port is open.
The problem is that executing 'netstat --inet -an' on the suse box does not report port 22 as being in listening mode.
Don't use --inet. tcp 0 0 *:ssh *:* LISTEN 29590/sshd -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
