I cannot seem to get java working with my Mozilla 1.01 (the version coming with SuSE Linux 8.1). The JRE package coming with the distribution is installed, and I have installed a newer version under /usr/local/java. I have tried, as root, to access a web page with java. As expected I got prompted about installing the java plugin. I answered 'yes', and the download and installation was successful according to the dialog boxes. It still doesn't work, however.
I do know that this about doing the right thing to/with the libjavaplugin_oji.so file, but now I seem to have more than one of these:
david@dt:~> find / -name libjavaplugin_oji.so 2> /dev/null /opt/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so /opt/mozilla/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/SunJava2-1.3.1/jre/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so
I'm confused. What should I do?

Hi I had a similar problem and I've downloaded the mozilla 1.4 from the projects directory at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/mozilla and the Blackdown Java(TM) 2 RE also from the projects directory. Just followed the instructions for Blackdown jre installation and worked fine. Regards EJ
