Hi Folks,
I have installed SuSE Pro v8.2 (vanilla) on my Dell Inspiron 7000 which has a 3com 3c575 pcmcia nic.
The card is correctly detected and the correct driver selected (3c59x) yet on boot I have no functioning network (no lights glow on card). Examination of the /var/log/messages shows the message:
/etc/hotplug/net.agent: No HW description found
If I disable hotplugging (and HW scan on boot) and then reboot, if I modprobe 3c59x and manually start network services from Yast control centre everything bursts into life.
Any ideas as to the root cause of these problems gratefully accepted.
Kind regards,
Simon
