Surely someone else out there must be ripping and encoding... What are you using?
I use grip in conjunction with cdparanoia for ripping, oggencgt3b1 (Oggenc Garf tuned 3 beta 1) for vorbis and lame for mp3. The switches I use for vorbis is: -o %m -a %a -l %d -t %n -q 6 %w and for lame: -preset standard %w %m
How did you install it all, and from where?
I compiled them from source, but other than lame and oggencgt3b1, they are included with SuSE. SuSE can't include lame due to legal reasons. If you want to compile from source you can find the software at: Grip: http://www.nostatic.org/grip/ cdparanoia: http://www.xiph.org/paranoia/ lame: http://lame.sourceforge.net/ Ogg Vorbis: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/ oggencgt3b1 (this one is prebuild): http://users.pandora.be/sjeng/ftp/vorbis/OggEncGT3b1.Linux.x86 Charles -- linux: the choice of a GNU generation (ksh@cis.ufl.edu put this on Tshirts in '93)
