I am using kernel 2.4.21 and decided to give gnome2 a try.
Everything looks fine, except there is nothing in the main menu. Sub-menus pop up when I point my mouse at various places in the menu. I can select those items. The background of the main menu is sort of greenish. I am wondering if the text and background might be the same color.
Any suggestions appreciated.
I just got rid of this problem. Have you updated your system with apt recently? What happened on my system, or what I think happened, was that i had half of SuSE's gnome and half of usr-local-bin's gnome running. I just updated gnome-desktop-2.2.2-SuSE.ulb.1.i586.rpm libmusicbrainz-2.0.2-SuSE.ulb.1.i586.rpm net-rhythmbox-0.4.8-SuSE.ulb.1.i586.rpm ulb-gnome-0.3-SuSE.ulb.3.noarch.rpm I got these from the apt repository at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.2-i386/RPMS.usr-local-bin Actually I first tried to do it with apt but it wouldn't let me. It removed the necessary packages from the SuSE installation of gnome but i had to download the ulb packages and install them with kpackage. I forget what had to be removed for these to be installed. James usually has good directions on his site though. HTH However I now have this funky dualing panel problem which i'll try to find the cause of. -- Franklin Maurer Using SuSE 8.2 Pro
