Hi, Folks:
I got a new install of 7.3 working pretty well. I'm online and everything! I got updates from one of the mirror sites. But I can't figure out how to update the kernel -- or even where and how to get the latest. I've checked the SuSE website and haven't seen a clue.
Can anybody walk me through the process?
The latest *released* kernel for 7.3 is in the updates tree ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/update/7.3/kernel/2.4.18 get the one suitable for your hardware (k_deflt for most, k_i386 if you're running pre-pentium machines, k_smp or k_psmp if you're running multi-CPU) and install with rpm -Uvh After that you may possibly need to run mk_initrd and /sbin/lilo, I'm not sure. Recently, SuSE has put all that in the install scripts so it gets run automatically, but I don't know if that's true for the older versions like 7.3 as well
