Hello everyone,
I have some really unusual things happening with my server since last Sunday.
I can no longer SMTP out to most addresses. I can't even telnet to these addresses via port 25. I don't know if it's my ISP (Symptico) or if it's my SuSE. If I try to telnet to a server via port 25, I get a no route to host. The system does get the proper address through DNS translation, but it fails.
Sympatico probably blocked outgoing port 25 to reduce spam. You can probably only connect to their own mailservers now. You can setup postfix to do this for you by setting POSTFIX_RELAYHOST in /etc/sysconfig/postfix. Of course, they may have blocked incoming port 25 as well so you may not be able to get mail. I'd call and complain, but then again, it's the phone company and they probably could care less. I find that the cable companies are a bit more clueful here in Canada. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+9xM3+FOexA3koIgRAku5AJ4mhZagSlpLiy8T7WhLfGj5txxD4gCglOIh f7EHeUPK8XRt5hT7v3yOF8o= =Z4aD -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
